Lavada Stansberry

Mrs. Lavada Stansberry, 80, of Whitney died Sunday, May 8, 1977 in Whitney. She was born Feb. 2, 1897 in Hill County, the daughter of the late Joe and Sarah Caughron Shelley. She married Jessie L. Stansberry Sept. 9, 1918. He died June 2, 1952. She was also preceded in death by a son Lawrence on June 23, 1975. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She is survived by 3 sons; William A. Stansberry of Meridan, Odell Stansberry of Trinity, and Gene Stansberry of Kilgore; 4 brothers, Perry Shelley, Rolan Shelley and Earl Shelley all of Whitney and Hershel Shelley of Arizonia; 1 sister; Mrs. J.D. (Novella) Barnes of Whitney; 18 granchildren, 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 9, 1977 at Marshall and Marshall Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Elgin Blevins, Rev. Doug Shelley and Rev. Eddie Booth officiating. Interment was in the Whitney Cemetery.
