Judge Louis H. Mariani, 84, of 50 Presidential Plaza, Syracuse , died Tuesday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Utica, he lived in Syracuse since 1950. He was a 1953 graduate of Syracuse University College of Law. He retired in 1987 after nine years as a Syracuse City Court judge. He had been a lawyer in private practice before becoming a judge, and afterward continued his private practice until 1994. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the state and county bar associations. He was a former president of Syracuse Lions Club and Amicitia Inc. He was active in the Democratic Party and had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. A grandson, Louis J. Mariani, died in 1999. Survivors: His wife of 57 years, the former Katherine Bilotti; a son, John G. of Syracuse ; a daughter, Kathleen Hartnagle of Syracuse ; three grandchildren. Services: 9:30 a.m. Friday at Farone & Son Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompei Church. Burial, Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse .
