Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev. Lonnie Logan will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Kalkowski was born Sept. 26, 1928, at Ashton to Alexander and Rosie (Kaminski) Kalkowski.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Peggy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clark and Patsy Kalkowski and Karlye and Debra Kalkowski, all of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and George McHargue of Kearney; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Kathy Kalkowski of Las Vegas; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Kalkowski of California.
Those also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Jennifer, Ariann, Kash, Jess and Kya and great-grandchildren, Jackson Forsberg, Isabella Brown and Dylan Forsberg.
He was welcomed into heaven by his parents; three sisters, Elaine, Virgie and Dee and a brother, Bud.
Babe moved to Grand Island as a young man and attended public school; St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1947. He served during the Korean War in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Margaret (Peggy) A. Clark on Aug. 29, 1950. They made their home in Grand Island where LaVern owned and operated Kalkowski Construction that was founded by his father.
Babe built many beautiful homes as a successful contractor for 60 years. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and golfing with family and friends.
He was a member of the Eagles and the Platt-Duetsche.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Babe's name.
