(Madison (MO) Times, Dec. 20, 1923)- Mrs. Sarah Frances Cottingham died at the home of her son, Robert, in Kansas City, Thursday, December 13th. Deceased was the daughter of William and Lucy Duvall, and was born near Milton, August 30, 1840. She was married to Robert Cottingham Sept. 3, 1857. Her husband died in July, 1921. She leaves to mourn her loss a brother, Henry Duvall at Duncan's Bridge, six children, Mrs. Lutie Alroe at Madison, Robert L. and J. M. Cottingham and Mrs. Fannie Osborne at Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Nellie Tyler and Mrs. May Padgett of Madison. Two children preceded the parents in death. She was of a family of six children, two of the sisters and a brother died since the death of her husband and another brother is also dead. Mrs. Cottingham had been a member of the Methodist church most of her life, her membership being with the Milton church. She was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor and a loyal friend. She had a remarkable memory and always kept up her interest in the news of the day. During the civil war Mr. and Mrs. Cottingham lived at Thomas Hill, afterwards moving to a farm south of Evansville, and in 1913 to Madison. A funeral service was conducted at Kansas City by T. W. Cottingham, a cousin of her late husband, and the body was brought to Madison Friday night and conveyed to the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Alroe. On Saturday at 1 o'clock, funeral services were held at the Methodist church by Rev. J. M. Monroe, after which burial was made at Sunset Hill.
