Charles was born in Sleepy Eye, MN. He was the son of John Peter & Margery (MacMaster) Geschwind. He attended Sleepy Eye Public High School graduating in 1939. He entered the US Army, serving from 1941 to 1945 in Rhineland, Ardennes and central Europe as a weather observer. He attended Military Police School from 1948 to 1951. From 1951 to 1957 he served in the US as a plain clothes criminal investigator. After his military service he returned to Sleepy Eye. He was past commander of the Isaac-Radl VFW post #800. He enjoyed reading, especially history. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.
