Nora Dafoe, age 89, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Valley City, ND, died Monday,
January 10, 2005 at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo, ND. A funeral mass will be
celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 15, 2004 at St. Catherine's Catholic
Church in Valley City. Visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 PM until
7:30 PM at the Lerud-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home and one hour before the
service at the church on Saturday morning. A prayer service will be held at
7:30 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in St.
Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in the spring.

Nora Agnes Carroll, the daughter of John and Selma (Anderson) Carroll, was born
November 12, 1915 at Pleasant Lake near Rugby, ND. She graduated from high
school in Hamar, ND and went onto receive her Bachelor of Education Degree at
Valley City State Teachers College, where she received the Outstanding Woman
Student Award in 1949. She was also President of the Valley City State Teachers
College Alumni Association. She received her Masters' Degree in Elementary
Counseling from the University Of North Dakota.

Nora married Arthur Wilson Dafoe in 1936 in Valley City, ND. The family moved
to Valley City in 1948 where Nora was employed by the Valley City Public School
System where she taught fourth grade for 14 years and was an elementary guidance
counselor for 16 years. Nora started the elementary guidance program in North
Dakota. She received the Glenn Dolan Counseling Award, a Certificate of Merit
from Valley City State University and was listed in Personalities of the West.

Art and Nora retired in 1981, spending summers at Union Lake in Erkine, MN and
winters in Fountain of the Sun in Mesa, AZ. Art died August 12, 2003 and Nora
moved into Waterford at Harwood Groves in Fargo. Nora belonged to the following
organizations: Delta Kappa Gamma, Newman Club, St. Catherine's Altar Society,
League of Women Voters, Community Club and many musical groups. Nora had many
hobbies and interests: making quilts for her family, playing the piano and
organ, oil painting, dancing with her husband Art and Handy work around the
home.

Nora is survived by her children, Avis (Thomas) Klinkhammer, Valley City, ND,
Peggy (Dale) Koppelman, Grand Forks, ND, Dennis (Darlene) Dafoe, Mesa, AZ and
Carroll (Ken) Berntson, Fargo, ND; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren:
Gayle (Cory) Nelson (Leah and Alec), Dennis (Lori) Klinkhammer (Nick and
Courtney), Nancy (Mike) Ellis(Tommy), Lori (Steve) Koppelman-McManus (Simon and
Claire), Michael (Cindy) Koppelman (Myles), Kurtis Koppelman, Connie (Gavin)
Dafoe-Rueb (Nicole, Wesley and Eric), Robert (Cathy) Dafoe (Jacob, Thomas and
Samuel), Kimberly Dafoe, Mark Berntson, Peggy (Todd) Simonson (Ty, Jada and
Esmae) and David (Kris) Berntson; one sister, Gertrude Robertson, San Jose, CA;
several nieces and nephews. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, husband,
two brothers, three sisters and one infant grandson, David Dale Koppelman.
