I accompanied my Aunt (Lucile) and Uncle(Henry Davenport) on a vacation trip to Lawrenceburg in the late forties. Among the relatives we stopped to see were Flora(Hedger)Booker and her husband,Minister R. E. Booker. I believe that they were living in Stringtown at that time.We spent several hours in their home and Flora served us chicken for lunch. It was a pleasant and relaxing time- they went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
Little did I know, but almost forty years later- Rev. Booker was one of two ministers ( the other was Rev.Kenneth Lewis, my father's cousin) to officiate at my Father's funeral service(John Clayton Lewis) in 1986 (Gash Funeral Home). His wife, Flora, had passed on in 1972.
Flora's father (John Thomas Hedger) was the brother of my great grandmother, Catherine Hedger Gillis.
