b. 18 November 1928, Silver Point, Putnam Co., TN – d. 31 January 2007, md on the 23rd of September 1950 to Dora Marie(Crislip) Carter, b. 25 May 1932. Joe Sam Carter, s/o Homer H. Carver (1892-1957) & Minnie Myrtle Murdock (1900-1983).

COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Joe Sam Carter, 79, of Cookeville, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial was in Carlin Cemetery in DeKalb County.
Mr. Carter died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Silver Point to the late Homer Henry and Minnie Myrtle Murdock Carter.
Mr. Carter was an engineer and a member of Hampton Crossroads Baptist Church.
His family includes his wife, Dora Marie Crislip Carter of Cookeville; two sons and daughtersinlaw, David Michael and Penny Carter of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Steven Lee and Tammy Carter of Clear Lake, Calif.; two daughters and a soninlaw, Jo Anne Susan Carter and Ray Gottenbock of Lake Arrowhead, Calif., and Bonnie Jo Carter of Cookeville; a brother and sisterinlaw, Earl and Carol Carter of Massilon,
Ohio; two sisters, Jewel Swoap of Canal Fulton, Ohio, and Frances Ogeail Kirby of Doyle; 13 grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Carter; and three sisters, Willie Flatt, Vera Pack and Ruby Allen.
