LANGHORNE, Pa. - Lawrence D. LaMarche, 92, of Holland, Pa., died on Thursday, Dec. 15, at St. Mary Medical Center.

Born in Ironwood, Mich., the son of the late Henry and Henrietta Daniels LaMarche, he was a resident of Holland, Pa., for the past two months, having formerly lived in Woodhaven, N.Y., and Hackensack, N.J.

He started working as a waiter at Longchamps Restaurant in the Empire State Building in New York and had the pleasure of waiting on several very prominent people during the time he worked there.

He worked in the tool-and-die profession for more than 40 years in New Jersey, and as an air brake mechanic for the New York Transit Authority until his retirement in 1978.

He was very active in his community and believed everyone should give back. He did this as a volunteer ambulance corps driver and chaplain in Queens, N.Y., and then volunteered in the emergency room at Hackensack Hospital for more than 23 years. As a result, he was honored as the oldest EMT in the state of New Jersey by the Bergen Record. When he wasn't volunteering, he enjoyed spending time square dancing, traveling and on activities with the local AARP chapter.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Regina Jankoski LaMarche, whom he married in 1979; his loving children, Tish Moodhe of Delray Beach, Fla., T.J. LaMarche of Las Vegas, Nev., Karen Harris of Lewiston, Colette LaMarche of Milford, Pa., Robert Miller of Churchville, Pa., and Thomas Miller of Red Bank, N.J.; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also stepsons Robert Miller of Churchville, Pa., and Thomas Miller of Red Bank, N.J.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret "Peggy" Lynch LaMarche, in 1977; and children, Daniel LaMarche and Phyllis Keebler.
