Son of DR. Francis + Anne Stockton Whelchel; Revolutionary War Soldier married Martha Davis sister to Abigail, Judith, ( Davis ) Whelchel. Father of several sons. Whom moved to Indiana with their Uncle Davis Whelchel.REVOLUTIONARY WAR SOLDIER. Sons:

Maybe othersWilliam D. Jr. filed an affidavit with the federal government in MCDonald County, MO in 1854 in which he stated that he was only nine years old in 1796 when his father died on Broad River. In the affidavit states that the three Davis sisters married into the family. He said that "after the funeral, he went home to Tennessee with his Uncle Davis Whelchel" and was raised in the Davis Whelchel home. In 1813 he married Keziah Whelchel, a first cousin, who was a daughter of Davis Whelchel & Nancy Barnes Whelchel. The affidavit is quite long and it is part of the Abstracts of Revolutionary War Papers and applications.
His father William Sr. was injured at the Battle of Cowpens Jan. 17, 1781 and William Jr. was born 1787 and William Sr. died March 1, 1796.
Buried at Old Gethsemane Church Cemetery now called Vinson Blanton Burial Grounds.
