Statesboro - Mr. Charles Eugene Adams, age 82, passed away early Monday after a brief illness. The Tift County native had lived in Statesboro for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men and Crusaders Sunday School class, where he served as treasurer for many years. He was a veteran of World War II, spent most of his adult life in the grocery business and was retired from T.J. Morris Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian Trimble and Patrick Polk Adams; three brothers, E.V. (Buddy) Adams, Lester Adams, and J.P. Adams; two sisters, Geraldine Joiner and Mary Elizabeth Dougherty; and his beloved grandson, Charles Russell Whitaker.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Statesboro First United Methodist Church and officiated by his nephew, the Rev. Charles P. Adams. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery. Hodges-Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
