"Departed this life Sunday morning, Jan 1st, Mr. Eli Cusick, in the 73d year of his age. A few months ago he had a stroke of paralysis and had recovered sufficiently to go around, but had another and became unconscious and remained in that condition till he died. His remains were interred Monday, Jan. 2, in the cemetery at Hopewell. Rev. Meek of the Warrenton charge, conducted the services at the house and Rev. I. K. Rader, of Smithfield, preached the funeral sermon at the church. The pall bearers were his six sons-Jacob, of Midway, Va; John, of Grover; James, of near Updegraff; Joseph, of Brilliant; and Eli Jr. and Sherman at home."
