U.S. Congressman. He taught at Borden Academy, (1894-96), plus engaged in the retail furniture business, real estate and banking. He was a delegate to the Democratic Indiana State conventions, (1908-60) and a delegate to the Interparliamentary Union Congress at Oslo, Norway, in 1939. In 1931, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-second Congress and to the four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1941. After his term, he resumed his former business interests, was president of Stone City National Bank, the Greystone Hotel and as director of Wabash Fire and Casualty Insurance Company, until his death at age 92.
