William was united with the M E Church of Braddyville, IA at an early aged and tried to live a consistent Christian life. He was known as a kind and loving father and a genial friend.

William married Alice A Nicholas on 25 Dec 1874, and they had 7 children. Three boys and four girls (two died in infancy)

He made his home for a number of years in Maryville, MO. where for 4 years he was an associate judge then 4 years as presiding judge.
