Mrs. Gertrude Mae Rush, 52, wife of George E. Rush, died at their home, 1023 Greenleaf boulevard, at 5:50 Thursday evening. She had been afflicted with sarcoma for several months, and was bedfast the last two weeks.
The funeral will be held Saturday with a service at the St. John's Episcopal church at 2 o'clock in charge of the Rev. Fr. Walter J. Lockton, and burial in Grace Lawn cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Charles Walley chapel, 126 South Second street. Mrs. Rush was a member of the church and its St. Mary's Circle.
Born Jan. 21, 1879, in the Sugar Grove district five miles southeast of Elkhart, Mrs. Rush spent practially all of life in the Elkhart and vicinity. She was the daughter of the late William and Annie (Garl) Showers. Her marriage to Mr. Rush took place April 11, 1900. Surviving beside the husband are two sons, John Rush of Elkhart and Thomas Rush at the parental home; a grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Ed Christman of Elkhart; two half-sisters, Mrs. Emma Middleton of Hammond and Miss Florence Bickel, who is a missionary in French Equatorial Africa, and the following step-sisters; Mrs. Ed Hager of Elkhart, Mrs. Jacob Miller of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Enos Metzler of Wakarusa, Mrs. James Meisner of Jefferson township and Mrs. J. H. Kane of Denver, Colo.
