John Robert Beatty, commonly
called "Jack," was born July 27, 1928, and
has lived with his parents on College Avenue practically all of his life. He fell asleep
Thursday morning, Mar. 18, 1948, as a result of a motorcycle accident which had
happened some five days before Jack had had
a very serious accident when he was six
years of age which nearly cost his life at
that time. It was a strange coincidence that
the same nurse who took care of him thirteen years earlier took care of him again at
the time of his fatal accident. He was a
junior in the academy this year but withdrew
early in the year and entered military service. He was discharged several months ago.
Funeral services were held in the college
auditorium on Sunday, March 21, Elder S. E.
Wight and Clinton W. Lee officiating. He
was laid to rest in the Rose Hill cemetery at
Berrien Springs, Michigan.
