"Mae" was born on the County Farm in the Town of Fountain, Juneau, Wisconsin to Henry Clayton Flagg and Iva Lillian Northcott Flagg.( Her father was the manager of the County Poor Farm)
She graduated from New Lisbon , WI High School and then attended Juneau Normal for one year and graduated 1934 with a teaching certificate. She returned to take an additional year at the County Normal, in 1956 to meet the new criteria for teaching in rural schools . She taught school at Sprague, Wisconsin and the Town of Germantown. Later she taught at Mauston. She taught Sunday School and was active in the Ladies Aid at the church.
Irvin and Mae had three children:
Ronald Irvin, Erna Mae, and Gary Lee Braund.
