She began her television career in 1950 performing in live television dramas including Studio One, Armstrong Circle Theater, Goodyear Television Playhouse and other series. Her portrayals of assertive women made her popular with casting directors. She also had TV roles on shows like Perry Mason, Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Bat Masterson. While she did make a name for herself on the Broadway stage, she ultimately chose to leave stage work to play the role of Ada Hobson on the soap opera Another World from 1967 to 1992.
