Evaline was the daughter of William F. and Harriet (Washburn) Coe who were both born in Ohio. She was born in Ohio or in Hancock County, Indiana. Evaline had at least 3 older brothers, Francis B. (Frank), John M., and William F. and at least one sister. She married James S. Zimmerman on November 12, 1863, in El Dorado County, California. In 1870 or 1871 they came to Elkhart, Indiana where James had grown up and they lived on a farm about 4 miles south of Elkhart on what is now County Road 7. Evaline moved to Los Angeles, California with a son and 3 daughters in the 1910's and died at the home of her daughter and son in law, Blanche and Loren "Kidd" Parritt in 1915. She had been working in her garden and apparently felt ill or tired and was found on the back steps of the house./// Her day and year of birth and the spelling of her first name are incorrect on her marker.
