Ronald D. Abel, 56, of Montpelier died at 10:13 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at his residence.
Mr. Abel was a former employee at Gripco Corp. at Montpelier. He was a U.S. Army veteran with service during the Vietnam War.
He was a 1967 graduate of Montpelier High School and formerly attended First United Methodist Church in Montpelier. Mr. Abel was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post #23 in Hartford City and a past commander of Millard-Brown Am
Born Feb. 14, 1949, in Blackford County to Marvin Edwin and Ardeth J. Gray Abel, his marriage in Montpelier on Nov. 26, 1971, was to Diane Capper Abel, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jay (Lauri) Carfield of Montpelier; two sons, Jeffrey Hurst and Rick Hurst, both of Montpelier; and three grandchildren.
Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Glancy Funeral Homes - Walker Chapel, Montpelier. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Parson officiating.
Burial will be in Brookside Memorial Park, Montpelier. Millard-Brown American Legion Post #156 will be in charge of military graveside rites.
Preferred memorials are to the Montpelier-Harrison Township Cancer Society.
