Dana Richardson Hamlet was born in Brownville, Piscataquis Co, Maine, 13 May 1813, the son of Eli Hamlet and wife Mary, originally of Dracut, MA. (I believe his mother Mary was Mary Richardson, although my grandmother left a note identifying her as Mary Clough, a name I've not been able to document.) 18 Jun 1839 in Brownville he married Elizabeth Payson Snow, the daughter of Tileston Snow and Nancy (Heath) Snow, and they moved to Lily Pond in Wright Co., MN, about 1856. Tileston and Nancy Snow are buried in Big Lake Cemetery, as are Elizabeth's brother Benjamin Flavel Snow and his wife, Ruth D. (Harris) Snow. Dana and Elizabeth Hamlet were the parents of Ann Elizabeth, Helen Amanda, Clarence A., Elmer Adam, and Milton Tileston. They also took in and raised a girl named Lenora Louise Allen. (Her memorial is # 53265066.) Dana died at Lily Pond, 17 Jan 1899. An interesting side note: Dana and his brother Joseph Bradley Hamlet married sisters. Joseph's wife was Charlotte M. Snow. Most, if not all, of the early Hamlets in Wright and Sherburne Counties descend from these two couples. Charlotte died in Snohomish, WA. Joseph Bradley died in Wright Co. and is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Monticello.
