Rev. Roger F. Christianson, age 78, of Moline, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Funeral services were at Riverside United Methodist Church, 712-16th Street, Moline. Per Roger's wishes, cremation rites were accorded. Family inurnment was at Moline Memorial Park.

Roger was born July 5, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Arthur and Sophie Frances Tomala Christianson. He married Karen Erlandson on June 11, 1960 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Galesburg, IL.

Roger was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the Garrett Seminary, during his time at the University he was called in to service in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Rev. Christianson was a long-time United Methodist Pastor serving churches in East Peoria, Carrollton, Colona, Springfield, Cambridge, Good Hope, Bloomington, Beardstown and Milford. As a retired pastor he became the visitation pastor at Riverside United Methodist Church. His focus was his family, his ministry and music. Some of Roger's accomplishments include: United Methodist Pastor of congregations in Central Illinois 1961-95, Central Illinois Conference is now "Illinois Great Rivers Conference" Other church positions served periodically through the years: Chairman, Conference Leadership Development Committee; Counselor and then director of a number of church youth camps; member, Conference Board of Hospitals and Homes; Vice-Chairman, Conference Board of Higher Education; Member, District Locations Committee; various offices with local ministers' alliances. He was a member of the Moline American Legion Post #246, the Rotary, the Lion's Club and also the Kiwanis.
