Wilma was born May 15, 1913 to Lawrence and Augusta (Schultz) Kern. She was united in marriage to Vernon Vaughn on September 1, 1937 in Buffalo, Wyoming.
She was a lifelong resident of Leavenworth, only having lived away for a short period of time. She worked as a nurse's assistant at Cushing Hospital, retiring in 1973. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, crochet, and cooking for family and friends. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers; three sisters; and one grandson: Richard Petty.
She is survived by her son: Wendall Vaughn (wife Kathy) of Houston, TX; daughters: Barbara Bending (husband Jim) of Friant, CA and Patricia Tuttle (husband Ray) of Leavenworth; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
