This striking Victorian, originally bracketed, house features tall, narrow, two-paned windows arched above, lowpitched roof, and slender single-story porch supported by thin columns. "The Italianate style along with the Gothic Revival, began in England as part of the picturesque movement, a reaction to the formal classical ideals in art and architecture that had been fashionable for about two hundred years." (Field Guide to American Houses) The barn is original. John H. Decker was born August 9, 1848 in Marion Township to John and Sarah Decker. John married Anna McManness January 27, 1876 in Findlay.
