Thomas also served as Director of the First State Bank in Hamtramack and at some point, he was a Clerk for the Police Court in Detroit. He and his wife, Pauline (Lena), lived at the shores of Lake Huron in Lexington, Michigan.
Although Thomas and Lena did not have any children of their own, they raised and later adopted, two nephews, John and William Pfeifle. The boys appear to have been the sons of Lena's brother, William Pfeifle, and his wife, Hazel.
During their retirement years, Thomas and Lena resided in Miami, Florida. They traveled extensively and vacationed in many parts of the world.
