He was the son of Earl Oscar Ohnmeiss and Doris (Sechler) Ohnmeiss. On a Wednesday afternoon at 4:00PM, he died at his home located at 919 Meade Street in Williamsport. The county coroner, said death was self-inflicted. The city ambulance was summoned, but no medical service was required. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. The funeral was held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the St. Boniface Elementary School, 708 Franklin Street. His age was only 21 years, 9 months 10 days old.
