Juanita Spann McGowin, a native of Chapman, Ala., and a resident of Jackson, died Friday at an area health care facility. She was 98.

McGowin was a self-employed bookkeeper and a member of First United Methodist Church of Jackson.

Survivors include one son, John McGowin of Jackson; one daughter, Clementine Whitman of Little Rock, Ark.; one brother, E.M. Spann of Pensacola; two sisters, Virginia Bedwell of Mobile and Gloria Spann of Georgiana, Ala.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be today from 8:30 a.m. until the 10 a.m. service at First United Methodist Church of Jackson. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery in Jackson.

Arrangements are being made by Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson.
