Winfield Scott Brewer served as a Confederate Soldier with Forresters Calvary in the Civil War
Winfield Scott Brewer was known as "Scott" and named after the military leader of that name. He served in the Confed. Army, entering at the age of fifteen. He joined the force with Nathan Bedford Forrest's Calvary in the fall of 1863 under the command of Capt. Williams and Col. Nixon. Later he was under the command of Capt. Gilbert. According to records from the War Dept., he saw action at Johnsonville, TN., near Camden and was involved in several skirmishes from West Point, MS to Salem, AL. He was a member of Co. E., 20th. Regiment, TN, Calvary. He surrendered at Gainesville, AL, and was discharged there April, 1865. He is interred in Hampton Cemetery, Hwy. 22 S., Carroll Co., TN.
