Mrs. Lura Funk, widow of Wm. M. Funk of Fulton County, died unexpectedly at the home of her sister, Mrs. Emma Bolinger, Three Springs, Pa. Born Feb. 22, 1880, she was 73 years old.
Lura Bedford Funk was born and raised and later with her husband spent much of her life at the old Bedford home in Belfast, now owned by her niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Peck. Several of her widowed years were spent in Carlisle where she was employed by the Molly Pitcher Hotel.
Surviving are the following sisters, Mrs. Emma Bolinger, Mrs. Eleanor Potter, of Amaranth, Mrs. Agnes Hornbaker, of Mercersburg, Mrs. Della Kyle of Carlisle, Mrs. Eva Miller of Phoenix, Ariz., and also quite a number of nieces and nephews.
She joined the Pleasant Grove Christian church in 1894 and was a loyal member and consecrated christian during these 59 years.
The church so appreciated her faithfulness that a memorial gift in her honor is being placed in the Memorial Chapel fund at Hartman Center, Milroy, Pa.
Funeral services were conducted by her formed pastors Revs. T. P. Garland, and David Hollenshead, and her body was led to rest beside her husband in the beautiful Pleasant Grove cemetery.
Her great grand-father the Rev. John Smith organized Pleasant Grove church one hundred and ten years ago.
Her life has been an inspiration to those who remain and we shall cherish her memory, while she goes to that Blessed Home of the Faithful. She helped us live a little better, she led us to honor God the more, she showed us the value of heavenly riches, over on the Eternal Shore.
