JESSE TRUE SACRE
---Jesse True Sacre, 73, died Wednesday morning, February 18, at the home of his daughter, Mrs Gene Grear, in Sioux City, Iowa. He had been in ill health for several months. Services were held Saturday in the Wilson funeral home at 2:00 with the Reverend Claude Thompson officiating. Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery.
---Mr Sacre, son of John F. and Loretta M. Sacre, was born May 2 1885, in Carlinville, Macoupin Co., Ill. and passed away February 18, 1959 at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 19 days.
---He was united in marriage on March 17 1917 to Nora Belle Lewis and to this union a son and daughter were born. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora, April 25, 1956 and his son, Gerald, who was killed in WWII. Also preceding his in death were his parents and three brothers. He was the last of the Sacre name in his family.
---He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Gene Grear and two grandchildren, Christina Lee and Wilsey Gene Jr., all of Sioux City, Iowa and a daughter in law, Ruth Kapusciak and Steven.
---He moved to Macon County in 1897 at the age of 12 years and spent the best part of his life in and around La Plata. People will not only remember him for his connection with the fine art of horse racing but also because he operated the Gilbreath and Sacre Taxi and Dry Service in the days of the horse and buggy.
