Arthur's father, Frank E. Barney, was born in Sweden and settled in Princeton, Ill. Frank Barney's name was Peterson until he came to the United States when he changed his name to Barney. Frank died when Arthur was 2 years old and his Uncle Bill taught Arthur how to farm, etc.
Arthur married Erna Elaine Munroe, Sep 5, 1933 in Kansas and they spent the rest of their lives in the South Haven area. They had 6 girls, Betty Jo, Patsy Ann, Sonja Lee, Judy Kay, Cheryl Faye and Barbara Jean. Around 1950, Arthur bought a parcel of land from his sister, Camilla (Kling) and made their permanent home there. I believe Arthur had a stroke and was in a nursing home for a year or so before his death.
