L. Carleen Moser, 92, St. Joseph, died Sunday, September 20, 2009, at a local health care center. Mrs. Moser was born 3 November 1916, in St. Joseph, where she was a lifelong resident. She is the daughter of Carl and Georgia (Brumm) Whitson. She married Fred Moser on November 27, 1938. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1985. Carleen was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Franklin Whitson. She was a homemaker and farm wife. Mrs. Moser was an excellent cook that made the best three-layer german chocolate cake around. She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Friendly Neighbors Club, and was a cooking and sewing leader in the Ebenezer 4-H Club. Carleen lived a long and full life and her family will miss her deeply. Survivors: her daughter, Barbara Barton; granddaughter, Becky Barton; sister-in-law, Violet Whitson, all of St. Joseph; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment: Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Family suggests memorial gifts to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
