James Burton Litton was the third child of Washington and Martha Allison Litton.He was born in Jefferson County Iowa, he migrated to Ness County Kansas with his mother Martha and five siblings.
1860 census Round Prairie Jefferson County Iowa has James living with his parents.
Feb 20, 1876 James married Eva Jane Young at Alexander, Rush County, Kansas. They were the parents of 5 children, (Allison) Ollie, Jerry, Bruce D. Lytton 1855-1991, Alva, and Harry.
1880 census has the couple living in Ness County, Kansas.
May 12, 1881 Ness County Kansas information: Mr. & Mrs. Geo W. Strong and J.B. Litton and their families left for Washington Terretory in wagons, camping along the way, distance of 1500 miles, should take about 3 months.
