News of Mechanicville.
Mechanicville, Aug. 24. -- Miss Laura M. Gilbert, a well known and highly esteemed resident of this city, died Wednesday night at her home, 189 North Main street. She was born in New York city sixty-seven years ago and had been a resident of Mechanicville for nearly fifty years. She was an earnest Christian worker, a member of the First Presbyterian church, of this city, and also a great worker for the cause of temperance having written and published poems on the subject. The only survivors are several nieces and cousins. The funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the house. The Rev. D.P.Odell, pastor of the Memorial Baptist church officiated and burial was made in Hudson View cemetery.
