Joe is preceded in death by his son, Michael Hugghins, grandson, Michael Joe, sisters, Lillian Gardiner, Ruby Burchfield, and Opal Hendrick, and his brother, Calvin Hugghins. Joe is survived by his wife of 52 years, Truus (Trudy; daughter, Michelle Scrimger and husband Jim; daughter-in-law, Mary Hugghins; granddaughters, Staci Fields and husband Andrew, Cristina Hugghins, Sarah Scrimger, and Jennifer Hugghins; grandsons, Joe Hugghins and Sam Scrimger; great-granddaughters, Evie and Emma; great-grandsons, Nathaniel, Giovanni, expecting great-grandson, Michael Hayden; sisters, Jewell Eberhardt, Merle Thornhill, and Mary Harris; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Sunday, March 27th, and the service celebrating Joe's life will be held at 11:00am Monday, March 28th, all held at Niday Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Joe graduated from Rusk High School in 1953. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired after 30 years from Schlumberger.
Joe enjoyed watching baseball, wood working, fishing, and family BBQ's. He was a great man and will be truly missed.
