GOLDSBORO - Joseph Herman "Joe" Barnes, 62, of 103 Valley View Drive, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at his home.
Joe served with the Army and had a great love of guitars and music. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Cleatus Barnes, and stepfather, Desmond Waters Burgess.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Fairview Cemetery, La Grange.
Joe is survived by his mother, Doris Dawson Burgess of Goldsboro; daughter, Melanie Yohn Barnes of Asheville; stepdaughter, Paula Gail Davis of Currituck; sister, Teresa Overman of Goldsboro; brother, Joseph Ronald Barnes of Asheville; half-sister, Kitten Love of Asheville; stepmother, Pauline Barnes of Asheville; and aunt, Beatrice Rogers of Asheville.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange, and at other times they will be at the home.
