He leaves to cherish his memory Mary Fields Johnson, wife of 68 years, one son Charles "Ab" Johnson of Rufe, one daughter Diane Moore and the late Sherrill More of Wright City, Three grand children Pam and Marty White of Wright City, Charla and Don Hensel of Dallas Tx., and Tammy Crocker of Dallas; Six great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, stepmother Thelma Johnston, two brothers Troy Allen Johnston of Oklahoma City and James A. Johnston of Wright City and one sister Minnie Foshee of Arizona.
He is survived by five brothers, Bill and Mary Johnston, Robert and Ruby Johnston all of Rattan, Gene and Mary Johnston of Wright City, Coy and Janiece Johnston of Idaho, George Johnston of Nevada and one sister Mary Sisk of Illinois.
Charles was a veteran of World War II and a prisoner of war in Germany. He received many well deserved metals one of which the most precious Purple Heart. He was born in McCurtain County and spent most of his life there. H and wife Mary have lived in the Wright City area for the last 41 years. Charles was an avid hunter and so looked forward to deer camp each year. He loved his family and his church family at Wright City Assembly of God church.
In summary, Charles was a man who truly loved life and his friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday February 21, 2011 at Brumley Funeral Home.
