Ann, a native San Franciscan, was born June 3, 1913 and passed away on March 22, 2011 at the age of ninety-seven.

She was a member of America's "Greatest Generation" and was predeceased by her parents, Louise and George S. Dunn and her three brothers, William, Edwin, and George Jr.

She grew up in the Glen Park District, attending Glen Park Elementary and Mission High School and completed her education at SF State University, Johns Hopkins, and Stanford Universities.

After obtaining a degree in nursing and following the death of her brother George at Pearl Harbor, Ann joined the Army. She was a member of the 59th Evacuation Hospital (a precursor to MASH units) seeing action in North Africa, Italy, and France.

During a particular hectic period in the emergency room, Ann was drafted to perform anesthesia thereby leading to a career as a nurse anesthetist. After the war, Ann began working in the Emergency Room at SF General Hospital. She returned to active duty during the Korean War and achieved the rank of Major.

Her nursing career came to a close when she retired from SF General after twenty-five years of service. Though she never married she was a loving Aunt who had a close relationship with her numerous nephews and nieces many of whom she passed on her love for the game of tennis.

Her surviving nieces and nephews are Sister William Eileen D.C., Noreen Dunn, Thomas G. Dunn (Laura), Kathy Lindsey (Robert), Joan Esclamado, Robert E. Dunn, and Edward A. Dunn (Sally Oshita). Her surviving great nieces and nephews are Sean "Malu" Lindsey, Lono Lindsey, Imiola Lindsey, Ryan T. Dunn (Julie), Emily Dunn Fowler (Jesse), Katherine Esclamado, and Nicole Esclamado. Her Great-Great Nephew Dylan Patrick Dunn and Great-Great Niece Molly Morgan Dunn also survive her. Barbara Hassing, Arthur and Gloria Price and their family, June Danforth and her family, will also miss her.

Though reluctant to acknowledge the existence of the afterlife, her curiosity prevented her from denying the possibility of her sprit continuing on. We all look forward to reuniting. In her memory the family asks that you consider thanking a serviceman or woman for their service to this country.

Ann's ashes will be interned in her brother George's grave at Golden Gate National Cemetery.
Private services will be held per Ann's request.
