From the Pomona "Progress Bulletin", June 10, 1968:
"Charles Conrad Scharmann of 721 N. Mountain Ave., died Monday at 5:30 a.m. at his home from an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Scharmann was born Dec. 18, 1898, in Kearney, Neb. He came to California from Portland, Ore., 25 years ago and has lived in Pomona since that time. For 17 years he worked as a machinist, with the Loud Machine Shop, now known as the Howmet Corp. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Rose E. Scharmann of the home address, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Beverly Gollhardt of Pomona; a son, Garred N. Scharmann, also of Pomona; three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Spurrier of Bremerton, Wash., Mrs. Helen Smith of San Jose and Mrs. Julius Fix of North Platte, Neb., a brother Harry Scharmann of Ripon, and four grandchildren, Mark and Janet Gollhardt and Larry and Debra Scharmann, all of Pomona, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Pomona. The Rev. Harold C. Price, pastor of the church will officiate. Entombment will be made in Pomona Mausoleum. Todd Memorial Chapel, Pomona is in charge of arrangements."
