They saw action at the Battles of Port Gibson and Vicksburg, where they were captured and paroled. Online Ancestry.com family trees state James was the husband of Susan Pritchard and died August 28, 1891. His tombstone application record, filled out by his daughter Fannie, states he died December 12, 1873.
