George Lester Davis, 88 of Hannibal MO. and formerly of Alexis, IL., died Thursday, Oct 9, 2003 at Hannibal Regional Hospital, Hannibal, MO.
Graveside funeral services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Alexis Cemetery in Alexis, IL. The Rev. Delbert Icenogle will officiate.
Friends may call after 3 p.m., with the family present from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Oct. 13 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel in Alexis.
Mr. Davis was born Aug. 29, 1915, in Chaonia, MO. to Phillip Stockard and Anna Louisa (Lucy) Wilson Davis. He was reared and educated in Chaonia.
He was married to Mildred West on Oct. 28, 1935, in Greenville, MO. She preceded him in death Dec. 14, 1997.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathryn Lucy Cohoon and husband, Fred, of Hannibal, MO., Barbara Sue Trial and husband, Larry, of Columbus, IN., and Ruth E. Shafer of Salteo, MS. grandchildren, Kenneth, Larry, Robert, Lorie, Brian, Lisa, Philip, Paul, Michael, and Sean;, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Davis of Rockford, IL, and Orville Davis of Pekin, IL.; one sister, Thelma Gullett of Poplar Bluff, MO.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sons, Homer Lester Davis and Phillip Melton Davis; and four sisters.
Mr. Davis was a farmer. He retired from Bulter Manufacturing, having worked there for 10 years. He was a member of the 60 Plus Club of Alexis.
