Erna Alberta Kuester, daughter of Adolph and Minnie (Fennern) Werner, was born July 6, 1916 in Wabasso. She grew up in the Wabasso area and received her education there.
On September 26, 1935, Erna married Leo Kuester and they made their home on the farm near Wabasso. The couple moved to a farm near Danube in 1953, then moved to Redwood Falls in 1976. During this time, Erna was busy being a housewife and working in the housekeeping department of Sunwood Nursing Home and at the Redwood Area Hospital. Erna later moved to the River Ridge apartments in Redwood Falls. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls where she was involved with the Ladies Aid and Quilting Club. Erna enjoyed crocheting afghans, doilies, and baby afghans and also made many quilts.
