Samuel was the son of Samuel W Clugston and Catherine Butler Clugston. He was born in Antrim, Ireland, came to the US on Ship Tuscarora arriving in Philadelphia June 16, 1866. His parents and their 5 children born in Ireland, Thomas, John, Jane, Sarah and Samuel came on that ship. Samuel, Jr was a papermaker like his father. Young Samuel never married, and is buried in his brother Thomas' plot.
