John Longenecker Sr., 77, died Tuesday night at the home of his son, John Longenecker Jr., of 1208 Maryland Ave SW after an illness of two months.
A native of Switzerland, he had lived in this country 54 years. He spent the greater part of his life in and near New Philadelphia and prior to his coming to Canton in September was engaged in orange growing in Orlando, Fla. He was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance of Orlando.
Besides his son at whose home he died, he is survived by the following daughters, Mrs Emma Sharp of Detroit, Mrs. Bertha Yaggi and Mrs. Fred Schussler of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Fred Petteron of Newark, N.J., and Mrs. Mary Sieber of Canton; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Madealine Steuck of San Diego, Calif.
The body will be taken to the home Thursday from the Orville Smith parlors.
