Son of John William Rutherford and Marietta Brayton. Married January 03, 1909, New London, Henry Co., IA to Blanche May Bell.
He was an inventor, self taught electrician and entrepreneur. Built and owned two of the first gasoline stations in New London. Built the first electrical stations on the east end of New London, land owned by his parents. Was one of the first employee, worked for the IAAP plant in the Middletown, IA doing all there electrical work. Bought and sold several homes in New London. Brief time living in Centerville, IA
