He was 5¡ä 11.50¡å tall, light complexion, blue eyes, and dark hair. Born Aug. 4, 1842, in DeKalb Co., IN, employed as a farmer, single, resident of Butler, in DeKalb Co., IN. Mustered out at the end of the war Sep. 14, 1865 in Nashville, TN with rank of Principal Musician. Notes: Sent to Stevenson, AL Aug. 14, 1862. Promoted fife major Jul. 1, 1863. Reenlisted Jan. 1, 1864. Requested furlough to visit ill parents Jan. 27, 1865. Married Sabrina Learned (or Leonard) 1867. He filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #110953 Aug. 31, 1870 in IN and received $12 pension for chronic diarrhea. Resident of Waterloo 1880; of Butler 1886¨C1910. Played his fife at 44th IN reunions. Died Dec. 2, 1912 in Butler (or Hamilton); buried Eddy Cemetery, DeKalb Co., IN. Cemetery record gives birth date of 1843. Sarah S. filed Widow¡¯s Pension Application to receive Widow¡¯s Pension Certificate #753730 Dec. 16, 1912 in IN (indexed as Simon Aldrich).
