From the Westford Wardsman, 13 Aug. 1921 (see corrected obit below)
Eugene Cornell [Connell] died at his [parent's] home on the Lowell [Beaver Brook] road on Sunday, July 31, aged twenty-five years [34 years]. His death was the result of being stung in the ear by a honey bee, which caused a clot of blood to form on the brain. Dr. H. B. Priest, of Ayer, and Dr. J. D. Christie, of Littleton, were summoned and quickly responded, but he was past medical relief. He was manager of the Wetmore farm at the intersection of Concord and Hildreth roads, and proved a most efficient and affable manager. In social life his sunny temperament won many friends. He was a member of Court Graniteville, F. of A., and Westford Grange.
The deceased was one of five sons of John H. and Margaret (Coughlin) Cornell of Westford. He leaves besides his parents, his wife, Catherine O. [Emily] Connell, and four children.
The funeral took place on last week Wednesday from St. Catherine's church, Graniteville. The funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. J. Emile Dupont. The choir, under the direction of Miss Mary F. Hanley, sang the Gregorian chant, the solos being sustained by Miss Rebecca Leduc. There were many flowers. The following delegation of Court Graniteville, For-esters of America, were present and conducted the Foresters' service at the grave: R. J. McCarthy, A. R. Wall, Joseph Wall, John H. Flynn and J. W. Mackellon.
The bearers were John, Edward, Charles and Harold Cornell, brothers of the deceased. Burial was in St. Catherine's cemetery, where the committal service was read by Rev. J. Emile Dupont, followed by the Foresters' service conducted by Chief Ranger R. J. McCarthy. [See correction to this obituary in August 20, 1921, issue.]

About Town. We made some important errors in last week's issue in our obituary of Eugene O'Connell for which we apologize. He died at the home of his parents on the Beaver Brook road, Forge Village, near Littleton town line. He had a lease of his father's farm for three years. He leaves besides his parents, John H. and Margaret (Coughlin) O'Connell, his wife, who was formerly Miss Emily Hartley, of Forge Village, and four children, the oldest four years, and the youngest three weeks old; five brothers and three sisters. He was 34 years and 6 months old, a young man of temperate and industrious habits, a good neighbor and citizen. Naturally his death was sad, coming in the prime of life, and made more so by its suddenness.
