David J. Powell, 46, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011. Born in Jersey City, he grew up in Dunellen and has resided in Piscataway for the past 22 years. Sergeant Powell was a 22 year veteran of the Piscataway Police Force. He wrestled during his school days in Dunellen High School and then coached wrestling for the Piscataway High School and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his loving parents, Robert and Diane Powell of Dunellen; his son, David J. Powell Jr., of Somerset; his daughter, Deonna Powell of Raritan; his sister, Janette Powell of Piscataway; his niece, Rachael Parent; two great nieces; one great nephew and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all of whom loved him dearly and will greatly miss him.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10:00 am at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd., Piscataway, NJ 08854 followed by interment in the Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. Visitation hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home.
