LARRY L. CALVIN JR., 45, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 29, 2011 at Harry Hynes Hospice at the Via Christi/St. Francis Center.
Born on September 14, 1965 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Larry and Cynthia (John) Calvin Sr. Larry had lived in Idaho, Colorado and Indiana and received his education in Winfield.
He was united in marriage on March 8, 1986 to Linda Drum in Kansas City, Kansas. Larry had been employed at the Winfield Country Club as kitchen staff. He later worked for Glantz Plumbing for over 18 years. He also owned and operated Ashes to Ashes Chimney Sweep for 15 years serving Cowley County. Larry most recently was employed for DVI-Don Vaughn Inc., which helped with construction on the Cowley County Jail. He had also been involved with the Cowley County Civil Defense as well as the Ossian, Indiana Civil Defense.
He was a giving, kind and hard working father and friend to many.
His family includes: His wife: Linda of the home; His daughters: Katlyn Calvin of the home; and Jessica Calvin and fiancee' Matt Tickle of Winfield, KS; His mother: Cynthia Calvin of Colorado; His father and step mother: Larry and Jeanne Calvin of Ossian, IN; His sister: Lynn Calvin of Caldwell, ID; His grandmother: Mable Calvin of Winfield, KS; and A host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ralph Calvin; his nieces Ashley Drum and Kayla Dawn McMicheal; his nephew, Derreck David; and his uncle, Ronnie Calvin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 1, 2011 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, March 31, 2011. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M., that evening.
