Tessa Byers was the daughter of Robin Wayne and Donna Jean Byers. Tessa died in an automobile crash during rainfall near Brooksville, Florida. Tessa and several friends were in a car headed to New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras for spring break. Tessa was a Freshman at University of Tampa with ambitions of majoring in Theatre and had recently pledged Alpha Psi Omega.
Tessa graduated from Park Tudor School in 2010. She was involved in a great number of activities during her school career and church involvement. Tessa was an accomplished musician, singer/songwriter, photographer, and actress. Tessa had a passion for missions work in Show Low, Arizona and served the Apache reservation with great enthusiasm. Tessa participated in numerous worship bands and was currently leading worship for Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Tampa. Tessa was an active participant in many Park Tudor productions including her most memorable performance last Spring in Bye Bye Birdie. Tessa was a member of the Park Tudor Lacrosse and Swim Teams. Surviving are her parents, Robin Wayne and Donna Jean Byers of Carmel, IN, her sister Kathryn Olivia Byers of Carmel IN, her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Betty Byers of Springville, IN, her aunt Becky Byers of Springville, IN, her grandmother Shirley Jeanine Elzy of Greenwood, IN, her uncle Dennis Elzy and aunt Pam Elzy of Arlington, IN, and uncle Thom Dehorn and aunt Belinda DeHorn of Greenwood, IN. Cousins include Meredith and Taylor Elliott, Jessica Haire and husband Chris, Kylie Conde and husband Phil, and Zoe Conde. She is preceded in death by her grandfather Donald Lee Elzy. A funeral service was held March 12, 2011 at East 91st Street Christian Church, Indianapolis. Arrangements handled by Bussell Family Funerals, Carmel, Indiana.
